This Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) guide provides generic advice on the application of OHSAS 18001. It explains the underlying principles of OHSAS 18001 and describes the intent, typical inputs, processes and typical outputs, against each requirement of OHSAS 18001 to aid the understanding and implementation of OHSAS 18001.
OHSAS 18002 does not create additional requirements to those specified in OHSAS 18001 nor does it prescribe mandatory approaches to the implementation of OHSAS 18001.
This specification gives requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable organizations to control their OH&S risks and improve their performance. It does not state specific OH&S performance criteria, nor does it give detailed specifications for the design of a management system.
